To the north of Destin is Choctawhatchee Bay, to the south the Gulf, and to the east, East Pass, connecting the Gulf and the Bay. One unique characteristic to the Gulf waters off Destin is the presence of two sandbars 15 yards and 130 yards off the beach. These sandbars create the beautiful blue and green water colors.
The beaches extend hundreds of miles along the barrier island. The beaches and gulf water around the Destin area are the cleanest as no major rivers flow into the gulf in this area. Turn South on any road in Destin and you are just blocks from the beach. Choose a secluded spot or join our guests at one of the many state and county beach access areas. A wide variety of restaurants are also located directly on the beach offering beach chairs, showers, food and drinks. All you need is a bathing suit, no packing coolers or hauling chairs and umbrellas.
